Introduction

The evolution of architecture is documented by examining shifts in architectural styles across traditions, regions, and historical periods. The dynamic tapestry of architectural history is rich and diverse, encompassing various stylistic trends and significant dates. Despite this vibrancy, the preservation of historical buildings is often threatened by the need for contemporary structures. Therefore, recording, documenting, and analyzing these buildings becomes crucial to contribute to the preservation of valuable historical evidence in architecture.

This project aims to preserve architectural heritage by documenting the evolution of styles across traditions and regions. Despite the richness of architectural history, many historical buildings face the threat of demolition for contemporary structures. The project's objective is to record, document, and analyze these buildings to contribute valuable evidence for the preservation of architectural heritage in the midst of modern development pressures.

The module's learning outcomes encompass using proper visual and verbal architectural vocabulary for building types and periods, illustrating the correct sequence of historical periods and their architectural representations, and understanding the diverse factors influencing architectural development.

Task

The student will conduct a research and architectural analysis on a selected building. Each group will

select ONE buildings from the given list.

Reflection

Through architectural history, I've honed my use of precise language for diverse building types and historical periods. Visual sequencing has revealed the interplay between societal changes and architectural forms. Exploring factors influencing architectural development, from intellectual movements to technological advances, has deepened my understanding. Overall, this experience has equipped me with essential communication skills and a richer appreciation for architectural evolution.
